Since I really did much on this site. I needed a break, and then life got busy, as it does. I think I'm ready to be a more regular visitor here again though. For now, anyway.

Here's to new beginnings and old friends :)

6 Word Memoirs

3 min read
So yesterday I was listening to NPR and heard another program about this concept. Basically, there is a myth/legend out in the literary world that Earnest Hemmingway was once challenged to write an entire novel in six words. His went, "For sale: baby shoes. Never worn."

Now, some of the ones that were read and shared on the program were really stunning and inspiring. It made me want to give this a try myself...so I'm going to try to write at least one six word memoir for every day for a year. I hope I don't give up on it!

    3) Let there be peace on Earth: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AmdJN…

[Please view the video link, a fellow Deviant posted it to me in a comment on my collage about the Invisible Children. These are Ugandan child soldiers...children abducted and made to commit terrible acts of violence. This fellow is working with a local orphanage in northern Uganda to help the troubled and violent children find a measure of peace in their lives, and learn how to cope with the situations they've lived through. It's a very important topic, and one worth viewing at the very least. The collage is here: fav.me/d12g7sh and the fellow Deviant is davidtaransaud]

So, obviously a lot has happened since I last posted...I was never very good with journalling.

Well, where to start?

I've been living with my lovely boyfriend of 2+ years now for a while. We just recently moved in with a friend of ours. The best feature about this place is the GIANT built-in bookshelf in the living room :) Things have been strenuous of late. Like everyone, we have our share of money problems, but it's not worth getting into that.

In April I had some health troubles...things I'm super embarrassed to even think about, let alone talk about. But to put things bluntly, I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. Hardly the worst case scenario I feared, but it's not something that's proven easy to live with. I've been considering working on some writing pieces about my experiences, since as far as I know not much is out and about in the literature world concerning chronic illnesses of the digestive system. I know not much has been done heretofore in the medical world about many digestive conditions, and so the idea's bandying about in my brain. Maybe a memoir of sorts would help enlighten people to this common, and very embarrassing, world of problems. At any rate, that's one of a few ideas I've wanted to work on and haven't made the time for.

Can't remember if I've mentioned before, but I've gotten pretty well acquainted with the world of D&D now. Pathfinder, specifically. Man, if I could move to Washington and work for them I'd do it on a dime...but there are firm knots holding me here too. Family, friends, and a love of the land I grew up in. We'll see how the tides turn come election time...

Still, I've been keeping busy. Been reading a lot lately again :) Recently I finished rereading a few Tamora Pierce young adult books which I greatly enjoyed. Working regularly at an okay job. It's tedious, and the practices of the business end drive me to bouts of rage at times, but I've got some friends I can complain with so that makes it all bearable.

In general, I'd say life is difficult but not impossible at the moment, and while I'm not what I'd call happy, I'm getting by. Hoping that things start turning for the better soon, and just working toward the goal of getting by plus some *chuckles*

More than what's here Jade, you'll have to ask directly ;P

So I kinda disappeared for a long time. Heh...

Haven't been too inspired lately, and got lazy about posting class works xD Sorry about that one. Currently, I'm looking for work (still), looking to move out of my parents' house (still), and happily dating Magus-Veneficus(still) xD :aww: Feel free to check out his page btw!

I haven't felt that soul-deep longing for the written word in a while, but now my recently posted piece has my fingers itching. Maybe I'd been sated by delving into D&D? At any rate, hopefully more to come sometime :)

Random question ~ anyone have any tips on reading difficult handwritten items? I took on the daunting task of transcribing love letters between my grandparents into legible (and more safely stored) computer form, but my grandmother's handwriting is atrocious! Worse than mine!!! I'd have a lot more fun doing it (and would work more diligently) if I could read it more easily lol.

That's all for now I suppose. G'night!

It's been way too long my friends, and I apologize for that! I've gone through most of the images in my inbox, and will try to read through the lit soon. But for now, I hope all is well with you, and I have some news for you!

A wonderful man found me and we've now been dating for almost a month, though it feels like much longer :) Other than that happy news, I'm looking for work, trying to find my place in the world and in this house. Reeeeeally trying to move out as soon as I can. My mom won't be too happy with that, but I've been feeling the need for a long time now. Hopefully the job opportunities I've been looking at make a move possible! :D

All the best to you,

~J~
